Jaipur: Distinguished neurologist and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Ashok Panagariya passed away on Friday. The 71-year-old doctor was suffering from corona virus infection and post-infection complications.

Condoling the death of Panagariya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that generations of doctors and researchers would benefit from his pioneering work in the medical field. Modi tweeted, “Dr Ashok Panagariya has made his mark as a great neurologist. His pioneering work in the medical field will benefit generations of physicians and researchers. I am saddened by his death. Condolences to his family and friends. Oh peace.”

All ministers including Ashok Gehlot expressed condolences

Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP State President Satish Poonia, Energy Minister BD Kalla have expressed condolences on the death of Dr. Pangadia. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday expressed grief over the demise of noted neurologist Ashok Panagariya and expressed condolences to his family.

He tweeted, “Sad news has been received of the demise of Dr. Ashok Panagariya. His contribution in the field of neurology will be remembered for a long time. My condolences to his family.

Ashok Panagariya took his last breath at his home

Panagariya was on ventilator in a private hospital for the past few days. After his health deteriorated in the last two days, his family took him home on Friday, where he breathed his last. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted, “My deepest condolences on the passing away of nationally renowned, well-known neurologist, Padma Shri awardee Dr. Ashok Panagariya.”

Gehlot said that Dr. Panagariya, while holding important positions, rendered remarkable services in the medical field and played an important role in the state as a medical expert even in times of pandemic. He said, “Dr. Panagariya’s death is a big loss to the medical world and the state.

The Chief Minister said, “I and my family have suffered a personal loss, I have had family relations with them, it will not be possible to forget them for a long time.”
