New Delhi: With the help of this portal, the government has to prepare a database of the workers of the country at the national level, so that these laborers can be included in the scheme according to their capabilities. Government for this e-SHRAM portal Launched, which will be linked with Aadhaar.
On this portal, more than 38 crore laborers working for the unorganized sector of the country will get registered. The workers do not need to spend a single penny anywhere for registration on this portal. It’s completely free.
Construction workers, migrant workforce, street vendors and domestic workers can register themselves on this portal. After registration on this portal, a special 12 digit labor card with a unique number will be issued to the workers. Their name, profession, address, educational qualification, skill and family information will be on this card. This card will help them to get benefits of social security schemes of the government in future.
For the first time, such a step has been taken to create a database of workers in the unorganized sector. The government aims to bring the benefits of the government scheme to all the unorganized workers through this portal.
Workers who register on this portal will also get accidental insurance for one year under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana for one year. Along with this, through this data base, the central and state governments will be able to provide good and quick help to the laborers in case of disaster or epidemic. Registration on this portal has started from 26 August.
Under the e-Shram portal, construction workers, migrant workers, street vendors, domestic workers, milkmen, truck drivers, fishermen, agricultural workers and other similar workers will be included. It was launched on 26 August by Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav in the presence of Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameshwar Teli. Along with this, it was handed over to the states / union territories.
