Ranjit Sinh Disale, the primary teacher of Solapur District Council of Maharashtra, has been awarded the Global Teacher Prize 2020. Ranjit has received this’ reward ‘as a result of his efforts to promote girls’ education and to make the textbook accessible to more students through the QR Code. On Thursday, when actor Stephen Fry announced the name of Ranjit Singh Disley for the Global Teacher Award on behalf of the London-based Warkey Foundation, Ranjit could not believe initially that he had won the award . The award worth seven crores was awarded to Ranjit because he promoted the education of girls in his area and made textbooks accessible to more and more people through the QR code.

Ranjit says, ‘The QR codes that we pasted on books contain many information related to that chapter. Suppose you scan the QR code, you get information related to that end, animated video and audio.’ After winning this important award, showing generosity, 31-year-old Ranjit announced to share 50 per cent of the prize money of 7 crores with 9 other teachers who reached the final round. Ever since the award win, people have started visiting his house . The people of the house are very happy with this victory ..

Ranjit’s mother says that she was very happy to hear the news of the award. “I have no words to express this happiness. Ranjit’s father Mahadev Disley said, due to the QR code in Corona era, many people started their study again. When the name of his son was announced for the award, it made them very happy, very proud. The building was in bad shape when Ranjit started teaching in the Solapur District Council school in 2009, but the obsessed teacher made a lot of changes in the school during last 12 years by working hard and made the syllabus available to all through the QR Code. Because of all his initiatives, child marriages in the village almost stopped and the attendance of girls in schools went to 100 percent. The degree of change that a teacher can bring in the society, it is doubtful that some body other  can bring the same in the society.
