Russia Ukraine War: The war between Ukraine and Russia continues. In view of this the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone. The discussion between the two leaders lasted for about 20 to 25 minutes. President Putin briefed the Prime Minister on the recent developments regarding Ukraine.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi reiterated his old belief that differences between Russia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) can be resolved through dialogue. The Prime Minister called for efforts from all sides to return to the path of diplomatic dialogue.
The Prime Minister apprised the Russian President of India’s concerns regarding the safety of Indian citizens, especially students, in Ukraine and conveyed that India accords top priority to their safe evacuation and return to India. The two leaders agreed that their officials and diplomatic teams would maintain regular contact on issues of topical interest.
Prior to talks with Putin, Prime Minister Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and stressed on the safe return of Indians. Apart from Prime Minister Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended this important meeting.
According to a video released by official sources, Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Hardeep Singh Puri also attended the meeting.
