Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement late on Wednesday that Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Malik is currently imprisoned in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

“The Indian Embassy was apprised of Pakistan’s grave concern that the Government of India has implicated him (Malik) in fake cases to suppress the voice of the Kashmiri leadership,” the statement said. It added that the Indian side was also conveyed Pakistan’s concern over Malik’s detention in Tihar Jail in “inhumane conditions” since 2019.

The foreign ministry said Pakistan urged the Indian government to acquit Malik of all “baseless” charges and his immediate release from prison so that he can meet his family and lead a normal life by improving his health. Malik, recently, before a Delhi court in a case related to alleged terrorism and separatist activities that created unrest in the Kashmir Valley in 2017, under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and various sections The charges were accepted.

India has repeatedly told Pakistan that Jammu and Kashmir “has always been, is and always will be an integral part of India.” India also advised Pakistan to accept the reality and stop the anti-India propaganda.
