Punjab News: Major administrative reshuffle in Punjab Police, transfer-posting of 50 officers

Punjab News: A major administrative reshuffle has been done in Punjab Police. The government of Punjab’s Charanjit Singh Channi has done transfer-posting of 50 police officers of the state. ADGP Intelligence Virendra Kumar has been posted as Director, Bureau of Investigation, Punjab, Chandigarh. While IGP Border Range Amritsar SSP Parmar has been posted as IGP Ludhiana Range.

This information has been given in the official order issued by the Punjab government. According to the order, SP City Patiala Varun Sharma has been given the responsibility of SSP Faridkot and SSP Malerkot Kunwardeep Kaur as SSP/SSB Nagar. The Punjab government said that the officers who have been transferred posting should join their new posting as soon as possible.

Last month Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota got additional charge of Police Chief

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Dinkar Gupta, considered a loyalist of former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, was given additional charge of the state police chief Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota on Saturday after he went on leave. Sahota, a 1988 batch IPS officer, was currently serving as Special DGP (Armed Police) in Jalandhar. Sahota was given the additional charge of DGP, Punjab, in addition to his own duties during the leave period of Dinkar Gupta. Earlier, IAS officer Anirudh Tiwari was appointed as the new Chief Secretary replacing Vini Mahajan, who was posted as Special Chief Secretary. Vini Mahajan is the wife of Dinkar Gupta.
