- Petition filed in Supreme Court
- Lawyer Shiv Kumar filed a petition
Regarding the demand for the formation of Farmers Commission at the central level and state level for the economic and policy and legal rights of farmers all over the country in Supreme Court PIL has been filed. It has been said in the petition that it is very important for the farmers to form a commission to protect their constitutional and fundamental rights. In the petition, citing the report of the Swaminathan Commission, it has been said that the commission had also said in its report to create a constitutional commission for the farmers.
The petition states that there is no commission for farmers, Articles 14, 19 and 21 violate the original rights of farmers. According to the petition, most of the farmers of the country are living on loan, crop failure, failure to sell crop at fair price, family problem, lack of proper platform to solve problems. The petition also mentions the commission set up under the chairmanship of Ms Swaminathan in 2004 and its four interim reports along with the final report dated October 4, 2006.
It has been said in the petition that nearly 15 years have passed since the report, but so far concrete action has not been taken on the suggested measures to solve the various problems of farmers, so today farmers have been on the streets for months. The status of the commission to be made at the central and state level should be constitutional. This commission will suggest measures related to the safety and security of farmers. Suggest the government to make laws and policy related to farmers and agriculture. Lawyer Shiv Kumar Tripathi has filed this petition.
