MP from Hyderabad and AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has said that if the schedule for the creation of National Population Register (NPR) in the country has been fixed, the schedule of its opposition will also be finalized soon. . If NPR If the work schedule is being finalized, then the program will also be finalized to oppose it. “
Owaisi’s response came after news that a questionnaire or program for the National Population Register (NPR) is being finalized in the country’s magistrate’s office but the probable date of the first phase of the 2021 census could not come forward yet.
Explain that more than 13 states and union territories have opposed linking NPR with the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the recent Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). As per the citizenship rules framed in 2003, the NPR is the first step towards the compilation of the Indian Citizen Register (NRIC) or NRC.
NPR’s data collection was first done in 2010 and was updated in 2015. Some states like West Bengal and Rajasthan have objected to additional questions asked in the new NPR, such as “father and mother’s place of birth, place of residence and mother tongue”.
