Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Ro-Pax terminal in Hazira, Gujarat and flagged off the Ro-Pax Ferry service between Hazira to Ghogha through video conferencing. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also present in this online program.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, the distance of 375 km of road between Ghogha and Hazira from this service will remain only 90 km through the sea. That is, the distance that used to take 10 to 12 hours to cover, will now take 3-4 hours in that journey. Prime Minister Modi said that with the introduction of Ro-Pax service between Ghogha and Hazira, the dream of the people of both the regions of Saurashtra and South Gujarat has been fulfilled after many years. Modi said that now the products of livestock and farmers by sea will be able to reach the market in a faster, more secure way. Similarly, transportation will become very cheap and easy for the business associates in Surat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the work of changing the name of Ministry of Shipping to Ministry of Shipping, Water vehicle and Waterways is also being done
