The Election Commission has imposed a stay of 72 hours for the leaders to travel to Cooch Behar.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday that her government will conduct a CID investigation into the incident. Banerjee said that there is no video footage or any other evidence in favor of the central forces claim.

Taking a major decision on Saturday evening, the Central Election Commission (ECI) has banned politicians from visiting the Cooch Behar region in the electoral state of West Bengal for the next 72 hours. After this decision of the Commission, no party leader will be allowed to visit Cooch Behar. This decision of the Election Commission came at a time when TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee announced to visit the Sitalakuchi assembly constituency of Cooch Behar on Sunday. Mamta was supposed to meet the families of 4 people killed in the firing allegedly carried out by the central security forces during this tour. According to reports, the central forces opened fire when a mob of locals attacked them and allegedly tried to snatch their rifles.
The fifth phase of voting in Bengal is to be held on April 17 and the Election Commission is trying to keep the law and order situation in the district under control. For this, the Election Commission increased the period of ‘silence period’ from 48 hours to 72 hours. According to the statement of the commission, “After the completion of voting on Saturday in Cooch Behar district, no party leader will be allowed to go inside the boundary of the district for the next 72 hours.” The Commission has asked the Chief Secretary of West Bengal, DGP, DM and SP of Cooch Behar district to take all necessary steps in this regard. On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress has announced a protest against the firing in Cooch Behar on Sunday in all the blocks and wards of the state.
Additional security forces were sent to Cooch Behar
In fact, the firing incident at booth number 126 at Amtali Secondary Education Center in Sitalkuchi assembly constituency took place around 9:35 am on Saturday. This area comes under the jurisdiction of Mathbhanga Police Station in Cooch Behar. Those injured in the shootings are undergoing treatment at a local hospital and additional Central Security Forces have been sent to Cooch Behar to control the law and order situation in the area.

Is there any footage? After killing people, they are defending their actions. ”
Four people died in the shootout
“A CID investigation will be conducted to ascertain the circumstances associated with this incident,” he said. Police said that the local people were allegedly “trying to snatch rifles” from the central forces and attacked them. After that, the security forces opened fire and four people died.
