Kashmir University First Woman Vice-Chancellor: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday appointed Professor Nilofar Khan of the Department of Home Science as the new Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University. Professor Nilofar will be the first woman vice-chancellor of Kashmir University. “In exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 12 of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969, I am writing to Manoj Sinha, Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Professor Nilofar Khan, to the University of Kashmir,” a communication issued by the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat said this afternoon. I appoint Vice-Chancellor.
The communication issued by the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat further stated that the new Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University will be effective from the date of assumption of charge for a period of three (3) years. The terms and conditions will be notified separately. Significantly, Professor Nilofer Khan is the first woman to be appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of this oldest premier institute. Professor Nilofar Khan is working in the Department of Home Science, University of Kashmir. He is Earth Scientist Prof. Talat will succeed Ahmed whose three-year term ended in August 2021. Let us tell you that Kashmir University is a premier university of India located in Srinagar. Which was established in 1948. The main campus of the university is divided into three parts- Hazratbal Campus, Naseem Bagh Complex, and Mirza Bagh Complex. Kashmir University has 45 affiliated and 21 institute colleges.
