Supporting farmers who are opposing the controversial Central Agricultural Act outside Delhi, Makkal Needhi Mayyam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan said on Monday that a country that “does not respect agriculture collapses.” Hasan told reporters here that farmers are “Annadata”. He had earlier sent a party delegation to show solidarity with the farmers who were protesting near the national capital.
Hasan said, “A country that does not respect agriculture will collapse.” I believe that this should not happen to our country. They (farmers) are the providers. ”
He was responding to a question related to the demonstration of farmers in Delhi for more than a month. These farmers are demanding the repeal of the controversial agricultural laws of the Center.
On a question related to actor Rajinikanth, who was discharged from the hospital on Sunday after being hospitalized for fluctuating blood pressure, Hassan wished him good health and said that it is more important.
Asked if he would join hands with Rajinikanth after forming his own party next month, Hasan said, “We have done it 40 years ago.” They probably said this in the context of working together in many films. Hasan said, “It is not necessary that the friendship should end” if they come to politics.
In the past, both had indicated to work together in politics. In response to a question, he hinted that his party could lead the “Third Front” in the 2021 assembly elections.
