Lone has announced his decision in a letter to Farooq Abdullah, the head of the Gupkar Alliance and the president of the National Conference. In his letter, Lone wrote, “It is a fact that the Gupkar coalition clearly won the most seats in this election. We cannot hide the data and apart from the seats won by the Gupkar coalition, another important figure is the number of reference votes on August 5 (neutralizing most of the provisions of Article 370) which is against the Gupkar alliance. ”
He later shared the letter in the media as well. Lone said that he believes that most of the voting against the Gupkar coalition has been done against the official candidate by pseudos of Gupkar alliance’s constituents. Lone said in the letter, “The result of selective voting in favor and opposition of the coalition alliance was a very poor vote percentage. This is not the percentage that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were entitled to after August 5.
