The US has approved India’s request to purchase $ 9 million worth of military equipment and provide services in favor of a fleet of C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. The Defense Department’s Defense Security Co-operation Agency (DSCA) said the proposed sale would help strengthen US-India strategic ties and support US foreign policy and national security and improve the security of the ‘big defense partner’. In the sales notification issued to the Congress, DSCA said that India is going to be an important force for political stability, peace and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific and South Asia regions.
In the request made by India includes the aircraft’s spare and repair accessories, advanced radar warning receiver shipset, ten lightweight night vision binoculars, 10 N / AVS-9 night vision goggle, GPS, electronic warheads etc. The Pentagon said that the proposed sale would play an effective role for the earlier purchased aircrafts in meeting the needs of the Indian Air Force, Army and Navy, local and international humanitarian aid, regional disaster relief.
