Earlier on Monday morning, after heavy rain and thunderstorm, people got some relief from the scorching heat. The Meteorological Department said that this was the first moderate intensity thunderstorm this season in the national capital, which has been facing unprecedented severe heat for the past few days. Earlier, the maximum temperature of the national capital had reached 49 degree Celsius.

Officials of the Meteorological Department said that due to rain and thunderstorms, there has been a sharp drop in the minimum temperature of Delhi on Monday, which fell from 29 degree Celsius at 5:40 am to 18 degree Celsius at 7 am.

He said that the minimum temperature was recorded at 17.2 degrees Celsius, which is nine degrees below normal this season. At the same time, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.5 degrees, which is eight degrees below normal.

The lowest minimum temperature was recorded in May for the first time since May 1, 2004. Earlier, on May 1, 2004, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.7 degrees. The lowest minimum temperature recorded in Delhi in the month of May is 15.2 degrees Celsius, which was recorded on May 2, 1982.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heat wave conditions are not expected anywhere else in the country except western Rajasthan during the next five days.

According to the IMD, an additional tropical weather system coming from North Pakistan produced rain clouds that brought rain in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on Monday morning.
