New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) said on Saturday that vaccination, medication, hospitalization or providing treatment to any person cannot be ruled out simply because they do not have an Aadhaar card. It clarified that the Aadhar card should not be used as an excuse for refusing to provide any necessary services.
The statement of UIDAI is significant in the second wave of Kovid-19 in the country. The UIDAI said in a statement that there is a well-established exception in the Aadhaar case that must be followed to ensure service and benefit delivery in the absence of a 12-digit biometric ID.
It said that if a citizen does not have an Aadhaar card for any reason, then he cannot be denied service under the Aadhaar Act. Amidst these reports that many people are being denied essential services like hospitalization due to lack of Aadhaar card, UIDAI clarified that non-Aadhaar would provide vaccines, medicines to anyone, Hospitalization or providing treatment cannot be denied.
