Delhi MCD Election Results Updates: Counting is going on.
The counting of votes for Sunday’s by-election for five municipal corporation wards has started. According to the information till 9 am, the Aam Aadmi Party is leading in 4 of the 5 seats of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. While the Congress is leading in 1 seat. The Aam Aadmi Party is ahead in Rohini-C, Kalyanpuri, Trilokpuri and Shalimar Bagh. Whereas Congress is ahead in Chauhan Bangar seat.
Municipal Corporation of Delhi by-election counting (9:35 AM)
– Kalyanpuri – AAP ahead of 4732 votes (6 rounds)
– Trilokpuri – AAP ahead of 3156 votes (4 rounds)
– Chauhan Bangar – Congress ahead of 7043 votes (6 rounds)
– Shalimar Bagh – AAP ahead of 1472 votes (5 rounds)
– Rohini C – AAP ahead of 2323 votes (8 rounds )
The main contest in this election was seen between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. All the three parties have expressed confidence of their victory in this election taking place in the midst of Covid-19 epidemic.
Shalimar Bagh (North) is reserved for women, while Trilokpuri and Kalyanpuri are reserved for SC category. These by-elections are being seen as a semi-final before the elections to be held in all 272 MCD wards in early 2022. 327 centers were set up for the voting on Sunday and 26 candidates are in the fray for this.
