CM bhupesh baghel on Veer Savarka: A debate has erupted over the claim made by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh regarding Veer Savarkar. Many political parties including Congress have attacked this claim of Rajnath Singh. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said that Veer Savarkar, after coming out of jail in the year 1925, worked on the agenda of ‘divide and rule’ of the British and he was the first to talk of ‘two nations’.
During a media interaction on Wednesday at the helipad in the capital Raipur, Chief Minister Baghel said this in response to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s remark on Tuesday that Savarkar had given a mercy petition on the request of Mahatma Gandhi.
After apologizing, Savarkar stayed with the British all his life and continued to carry forward the agenda of “divide-rule” of the British.

Baghel said, “Tell me one thing. Where was Mahatma Gandhi in Wardha at that time and where was he (Veer Savarkar) in Cellular Jail. How can he be contacted. While in jail, he sought mercy petition and not once half He asked for a dozen times. One more thing is, after apologizing Savarkar, he stayed with the British for the rest of his life. Didn’t speak a word against him, but kept working on that agenda which is the agenda of Britishers ‘Divide Raj Karo’.
The Chief Minister said, “After coming out of jail in the year 1925, the talk of ‘two nation’ was first done by Savarkar. This, which is about Pakistan and India, was said by Savarkar in 1925. The partition of the country was proposed by Savarkar and after that the Muslim League passed a resolution in 1937.
