CBI will investigate Mahant Narendra Giri death case, Center accepts recommendation of UP government

Mahant Narendra Giri Death Case: The CBI will soon take over the investigation of the death of Mahant Narendra Giri, president of the Akhara Parishad. The Center on Thursday accepted the recommendation of a CBI inquiry by the UP government. On Wednesday night, the Yogi government had recommended the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the matter.

Earlier, Prayagraj SSP had constituted an 18-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter. Chief Minister Adityanath, who reached Prayagraj to pay tribute to Mahant Narendra Giri, had said on Tuesday that the matter would be resolved soon.

Mahant Narendra Giri was found dead in a room of his monastery on Monday. According to the police, Giri had allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the fan. President of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad and Mahant of Shrimath Baghambari Gaddi Narendra Giri was given samadhi with full rituals on Wednesday.

Mahant Narendra Giri had written in the purported suicide note, “I am committing suicide with great sadness. The responsibility of my death will rest with Anand Giri, Aadhya Prasad Tiwari and his son Sandeep Tiwari.”

Sandeep Tiwari, the third accused in the suicide case, was sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the court. Earlier on Wednesday, the court had sent two other accused – Anand Giri and Aadya Prasad Tiwari – to 14-day judicial custody in this case.
