Country’s 3 Lok Sabha and by-elections on 30 assembly seats is being voted for today. Counting of votes will take place on November 2. The Lok Sabha seats where by-elections are being held are Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from these, 30 assembly seats are included in Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Bihar, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Nagaland and Telangana.
Why is the by-election being held?
By-elections in these seats of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha have to be held due to the death or resignation of MLAs and MPs. Voting is going on in Kusheshwarsthan and Tarapur assembly seats of Bihar. By 11 am, 21.79 percent of the people had cast their votes there.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli MP Mohan Delkar’s body was found in a Mumbai hotel in February this year. He represented Dadra and Nagar Haveli 7 times. Whereas BJP elected from Khandwa Lok Sabha seat (BJPK Nandkumar Chauhan died in March this year due to Karona infection. Ramswaroop Sharma, who won from Mandi Lok Sabha seat, allegedly committed suicide on March 17 this year at his Delhi residence.
