Patna: 2603 new cases of Covid-19 came in Bihar on Wednesday and 99 more people died. During the last 24 hours, 99 more people, including Dr Pradeep Kumar, working in the Kovid ward of Patna AIIMS, died due to infection. So far 4845 people have died in the state and the number of people infected is 6,98,329.
Sanjeev Kumar, in-charge of Covid cases of AIIMS, Patna, said that Dr Pradeep Kumar, working in the Kovid ward of the hospital, got infected while treating patients in his ward. He breathed his last in the ICU on Tuesday night during treatment.
All the health workers of AIIMS doctors, nurses etc. are grieved by the death of the young doctor. Expressing condolence, Faculty Association AIIMS Patna has demanded that under the Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, an amount of 50 lakhs should be provided to the family of the deceased doctor at the earliest. Pradeep Kumar was 32 years old.
According to the Health Department, fifteen patients died in Patna, ten each in Begusarai and West Champaran, nine in Saran and the rest in other districts during the last 24 hours.
The maximum number of 316 cases of infection have come from Patna. In Bihar, other major districts most affected by corona infection were 88 in Araria, 56 in Aurangabad, 177 in Begusarai, 50 in Bhagalpur, 117 in Darbhanga.
In Bihar, a total of 65,112 people aged 18 to 44 and above 45 years took the vaccine on Wednesday. So far, 1,02,03,447 people have taken the vaccine in the state.
