Tamil Nadu Medical and Family Welfare Minister MA Subramanian said on Saturday that the Tamil Nadu government is preparing 12,500 oxygen-lined beds on a war footing to meet the demand for beds for people infected with the corona virus in government hospitals.
The minister said that to ensure that Remadecivir remains uninterruptedly available in other parts of Tamil Nadu, the government will make anti-viral drugs available for sale over the counter in Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli as the Kilpauk Government Medical College here Is being done in the hospital.
The minister said that the creation of additional infrastructure will help doctors to meet the increasing demand for oxygen-supplied beds in all government hospitals in the state. These beds will be ready by May 15. “The 200-year-old Stanley Medical College Hospital will have an additional 750 beds available from Monday,” the minister told reporters after inspecting the oxygen plant and RT-PCR lab at the hospital here on Saturday.
