Amidst the discussion of change of leadership in Karnataka, CM Yediyurappa himself gave his exit signs

New Delhi: Amidst speculations about the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Chief Minister Yeddyurappa himself has indicated his exit. Yediyurappa said the party trusted his work and gave him a chance despite crossing the age of 75. On July 25, two years of his government are going to be completed. After which a program has been kept. After that, whatever the high command says, they will do it. Along with this, we will also work to bring the party back to power. He also thanked his supporters, Lingayat saints and appealed for their cooperation.

On the other hand, Yeddyurappa’s statement seems to have brought a lot of relief to the high command. The reason is clear that with the talk of change of leadership in Karnataka intensifying, voices have started rising in support of Yeddyurappa from the Lingayat community. Big Lingayat leaders of the opposition Congress have also come to the rescue of Yeddyurappa and have warned the BJP high command not to anger the Lingayat community and Yeddyurappa should maintain their reputation as a big leader. Big Lingayat leaders MB Patil and Shamanur Shivashankarappa are included in the list of these leaders.

After this, many saints of Lingayat community were seen gathering at Yeddyurappa’s house. Every day a team came to meet him. Which also included Siddalinga Swamiji of Siddaganga Math, the big monastery of Lingayats. Even today, about 500 saints marched on foot to Yediyurappa’s house. It is believed to be Yediyurappa’s muscle flexing. At the same time, party sources say that the party does not in any way want to send a wrong message to the Lingayat vote base which has brought the party to power in the state.

Karnataka Chief Minister Yediyurappa is the undisputed leader of this community. However, he is 78 years old, so the party wants a change. But this path is not so easy. Yediyurappa is considered the mass leader of Lingayats. At present, the BJP does not see any face to replace Yeddyurappa in the state as the challenge is whether the Lingayat community will accept that face. Let us tell you that the Lingayat community has been a traditional voter of BJP. There is about 19% Lingayat vote share in the state, which plays an important role for any party to win. This is the reason why BJP does not want to take any such risk. Neither wants to repeat a mistake like Rajiv Gandhi.

Virendra Patil was removed

Let us inform that in the year 1990, the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi removed the then Chief Minister Virendra Patil from the post, after which the Lingayat votes turned to the BJP. Virendra Patil gave a big victory to the Congress party in the elections by winning 184 seats in the 224-seat Karnataka Assembly. After his exit, even though the Congress party came to power twice, all efforts of the Congress to bring the Lingayats back into its fold failed. The same fear is haunting BJP at the moment that Lingayats should be kept with them in any way.
