The minister said that to deal with black fungus, the state government has also decided to set up a ‘post covid care ward’ in each district hospital.

Sudhakar told reporters, ‘After extensive discussion with experts, our understanding on this subject is absolutely clear. I have appealed to the doctors not to give steroids to patients in the first week of infection and it should be used only in the second week. He said that giving steroids to patients with uncontrolled sugar increases their diabetes further, due to which there is a risk of black fungus. 481 black fungus cases have been reported in Karnataka.
