New Delhi: The Delhi government on Saturday announced the release of Rs 1,051 crore for the payment of salaries of health workers and other employees to the three municipal corporations amidst the second wave of corona virus epidemic. In an online briefing, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that despite the drastic situation arising out of the lockdown, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has decided to pay the salaries of those helping to fight the Covid-19 epidemic.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged, “Due to mismanagement and corruption in the (Municipal Corporation of Delhi)”, doctors and other employees of the civic bodies are not getting their salaries. South Delhi Municipal Corporation, East Delhi Municipal Corporation and North Delhi Municipal Corporation are all ruled by the BJP.
Sisodia said, ‘The Delhi government has released Rs 1,051 crore to the three municipal corporations for payment of salaries of employees in the midst of the epidemic. Eastern Corporation will get 367 crores, Northern Corporation will get 432 crores and Southern Corporation will get 251 crores.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that corporations have to ensure that this money will be used only for the payment of salaries of employees and it will not be used anywhere else.
